VIABAHIA, which collaborates with Projeto Axé in matters relating to social inclusion, income generation and sustainability, donated uniforms to be turned into sustainable products such as mobile phone covers, toiletry bags, organizer bags, keyrings and ecological bags. On January 2nd, Alana Batista, the Safety Engineer of the company, presented the first delivery of uniforms to the Coordinator of Projeto Axé, Queila Brito, who said that the VIABAHIA’s collaboration is of great importance to Projeto Axé and shows their environmental awareness.
ROADIS donates computers to a primary school in Mexico
The CAMS team in Monterrey has donated IT equipment to the Belisario Domínguez de Santo Tomás primary school in Zempoala, Hidalgo, which needed the equipment in order to be able to give computer classes to its students.
CAMS Supports the most needed regions in Mexico
After the multiple earthquakes that hit Mexico in September, the employees of the Saltillo – Monterrey Highway (CAMS) joined together in a corporate responsibility initiative to collect food and supplies to help the inhabitants of the states of Oaxaca and Chiapas, the most affected by these natural disasters. Together, they collected 100 kilos of supplies: soups, tins of beans and tuna, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, bottles of water, baby food and personal hygiene items. The CESC (Centro Educativo Santa Catarina) and the Monterrey Boy Scouts association were responsible for distributing these products in the affected areas.
ROADIS closes a transaction to increase its stakes in the assets in India
ROADIS has bought Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners’ (MSIP) stake in the NH2, NH6 and NH8—a new breakthrough in its growth strategy. Until now, ROADIS managed 25.5% of these highways. Following the closure of this transaction, ROADIS now controls the 50% of each of them. The other 50% is managed by the Indian infrastructure company SOMA Enterprises.
ROADIS supports the FRM and the IIMC
The Real Madrid Foundation (FRM) and the Indian Institute for Mother and Child (IIMC) have renewed their collaboration agreement. In 2016, ROADIS sponsored one of their flagship projects in the Kheadah Social Sports School (Calcutta). ROADIS, as official sponsor of project, participated in the event in which the FRM and the IIMC signed the agreement. During this event, the FRM and the IIMC thanked ROADIS for its collaboration. In addition, ROADIS´ CEO, José Antonio Labarra, said that “India is an especially important country for ROADIS; we are very proud of this agreement because collaborating with the IIMC and the FRM has been an awesome opportunity for us to develop our sustainability strategy”.
ROADIS team participated at an FRM charity event
The Real Madrid Foundation organized its 3rd annual event for sponsors and collaborators: a speed dating seven-a-side football tournament for companies that support its international projects. The event gathered together 150 players from 12 companies: La Caixa Foundation, UPS, Colgate, Globalvia, Ecopilas, the Inter-American Development Bank, Real Madrid Foundation, Liberbank, Ecovidrio, Banco Santander, El Corte Inglés, and ROADIS.
ROADIS expands into Portugal following an agreement to purchase two highways
ROADIS has reached an agreement to acquire stakes in Auto Estradas do Atlântico (AEA), and Auto Estradas do Litoral Oeste (AELO). This acquisition marks ROADIS’ entry into Portugal, a market with a mature and established concession framework that is well known to ROADIS´ senior management team due to their experience in the region. The acquisition of the stakes in AEA and AELO increases ROADIS' exposure to developed markets, providing enhanced diversification to the portfolio. Following closure of the transaction, ROADIS' portfolio will include 10 road concessions situated in six countries across three continents.
ROADIS becomes reference partner of the Real Madrid Foundation in India
On December of 2017 our Chairman, Patrick Samson and Real Madrid’s Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño, signed a collaboration agreement through which ROADIS extended its support to the Real Madrid Foundation (FRM) for the development of social and sports projects in India. The agreement was signed in the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in a ceremony chaired by Enrique Sánchez, Executive Vice Chairman of the Real Madrid Foundation. In 2017, in addition to our collaboration with projects by the Institute for Indian Mother and Child (IIMC) in Kheadah (Calcutta), we are also supporting the Hope and Joy Foundation in the State of Kerala, with the excitement of becoming reference partner of the FRM in India.
ROADIS visits the Kheadah Social Sports School in Calcutta
As the result of an agreement signed in November of 2016, ROADIS is collaborating with the Real Madrid Foundation in the development of the Kheadah Social Sports School in the south of Calcutta. As part of this project, on January 17, 2017, our SBU Asia Head, Nithya Appakudal, accompanied by the Head of Finance of Asia, Alvaro Santos, visited the school in Calcutta. The visit was also attended by the President of the Institute for Indian Mother and Child (IIMC) in Spain, José Muriana, the Director of the International Area of the Real Madrid Foundation (FRM), Rosa Roncal and the founder and Director of the IIMC, Dr. Sujit Brahmochary.
ROADIS donates computer equipment to the “Casa Cuna” project
On December of 2017, a team from ROADIS visited the facilities of the “Casa Cuna” project in El Escorial to deliver computer equipment and become acquainted with the work of the institution. Antonio Hernández, Human Resources Director, organized the event, accompanied by members of the team from our head office in Madrid. This donation was made in cooperation with the Heal the World for Children association, presided by Laura Serrano, which aims to facilitate the personal and academic development of the children at this foster home.
7th Annual conference on “Operations, Maintenance and Tolling in the Road Sector”
A group of executives from our project companies in India attended the 2-day conference in November 2017, organized by India Infrastructure Publishing Pvt. Ltd. The main goal of this conference was to discuss the experience gained so far in terms of Operations, Maintenance and Tolling (OMT) in the roads sector and the potential of the newly launched toll-operate-transfer (TOT) initiative in India. The conference was targeted at road operators, pension funds, construction firms and contractors, legal firms, financial institutions and road product and service providers, among others.
ROADIS participated in the 8th edition of INVEStructuras, Annual Forum on Investment and Financing in the Infrastructure Sector
The forum took place in Madrid and represents a key space for the analysis of current trends and mechanisms for financing infrastructures, the priority areas of action for the concession activity in the coming years, and hearing the perspective of operating companies, funds and financing entities on national and international infrastructure activity. Our CEO Jose Antonio Labarra participated as speaker in the panel called “Investors: is Spain still in the scope of institutional funds and investors?”, alongside other speakers from Deloitte, Ardian, Stepstone, First State Investments and BBVA.
ROADIS participated in the 14th National Infrastructure Congress in Colombia
The congress took place in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. In its 14 years of existence, the National Infrastructure Congress has established itself as particularly significant event for the infrastructure sector in the country. The expertise of its guests, the direct dialogue with the highest levels of government, its multiple business opportunities, international panelists and impressive commercial offerings confirm the magnitude and scope of the event.
World Road Meeting 2017, International Road Federation – India Chapter
Each of our project companies participated in and sponsored the International Road Federation - India Chapter. The India Chapter of the IRF has been active in India since February 2009 following the aims and objectives of those of its Geneva based parent body, the International Road Federation Geneva Programme Centre, which carries out Road Safety activities in India. The IRD India Chapter is engaged with road infrastructure development and related business to promote the cause of Road Safety, Environment, Road Finance and Intelligent Transport Systems.
ROADIS participated in the II AIAL Congress
The second congress of the Association of Experts in International Mobility, of which ROADIS is a member, took place in the Bertelsmann Space in Madrid. The main topic was the future of international mobility. The event finalized with the celebration of the General Assembly of the Association, in which many members of the Executive committee, such as Evelyn García, Concepción Esther Morales, Santiago Sánchez-Mariscal and the HR Director of ROADIS, Antonio J. Hernández, participated.
Development of VIA-4U, a Road Safety App
The A-4 team has been working for some time now on developing a mobile app aimed at increasing Road Safety among the drivers that use Spain’s motorways each day. The goal of this project is to increase safety and reduce the number of accidents on Spain’s roads by offering a solution that integrates the three main factors in accidents: people, the road and vehicles. This project was a key factor in the A-4 Madrid being awarded ISO39001 Road Safety certification. Currently the project is in the prototype stage; an initial version of the app has been developed and worked on with real users of the A-4 over a period of several weeks. Despite being in the initial stages, the goal of this project is to develop a digital tool that can be interoperable, so that it can be implemented on other roads and in different countries.
Latinfinance – 10th Infrastructure & Sub-Sovereign Finance in Mexico Summit
On October 5th, ROADIS attended the Latinfinance Summit, an event that brings together both Mexican state and municipal government officials with investors, financiers, project sponsors, concessionaries and operators. The main topics that were discussed during the summit were: innovative financing solutions, energy infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, urban development and social infrastructure.
Victor Michelet, IT director of ROADIS in Mexico, participated in the IBTTA/TRB Joint Symposium on Managed Lanes & AET
The event took place on July of 2017 in Dallas, Texas. The symposium explored the latest research, policies and innovative practices found on toll roads and managed lanes to stimulate continued project development, adoption of the latest technologies and operational practice.
VIABAHIA takes the Theatre to the Municipal Schools of Irajuba and Milagres during Environment Week
During Environment Week, the VIABAHIA concessionaire in Brazil carried out an initiative to take the theatre to the children of the municipal schools of Irajuba and Milagres. The students received gifts that stimulate creativity, attended a class on wild animals and were invited to watch a puppet show about the need to preserve the environment. “This is a playful, fun way to convey a good message to youngsters so that they grow up aware of the need to take care of the environment they live in”, says Viviane Rocha, Director of Quality, Safety and Environment at VIABAHIA.
Carlos Redondo participated in the GRI Club Infra Club Meeting in Mexico City on January 29
During the GRI Club Infra Club meeting a debate was held in which executives such as our Mexico Country Manager, Carlos Redondo Rincón, participated. The matters discussed included the need for equal distribution of risks among the public and private sectors as well as more rigorous selection of projects. These improvements aim to increase attractiveness and prevent or reduce to a minimum disruptions caused to infrastructure projects by political changes.
ROADIS participated in the SAP Innovation Forum 2017
Digitalization was the main topic discussed at the SAP Innovation Forum 2017, which was held on 20 April at the Palacio Municipal de Congresos at Campo de las Naciones in Madrid and was attended by clients and partners of SAP Spain. Throughout the event, entitled “Digital Business: the time is now”, companies from various industries discussed their first-hand experiences and the importance of digital transformation. ROADIS, which was one of the first Spanish companies to implement SAP S/4HANA, described its experience with this new system in a talk given by Patricia Fernández, Head of IT.
ROADIS participated in the “INFIN” (Infrastructure Finance) Breakfast organized by Garrigues
This event took place on January 26th in the offices of the Garrigues law firm in Madrid. Eduard Soler, ROADIS CFO, attended on behalf of the company. The event consisted of a round table in which different leading companies involved in the infrastructure sector shared their opinion on the prospects of investment in debt and capital for 2017 in the sector. Besides ROADIS, top executives at Banco Santander, Cintra, Columbus Infrastructure and Globalvía participated in the event.
